Odoo 18 vs. Odoo 19: What Actually Changed?

Odoo 18 vs. Odoo 19 - which version fits your business?

With every October release, Odoo raises the bar for open-source ERP a little further. Odoo 18 (October 2024) brought deep performance improvements and a modernized UX. Odoo 19 (October 2025) went a step further still - with focused improvements in AI automation, manufacturing, and accounting.

As a certified Odoo Silver Partner, we've put both versions through intensive real-world use. In this post you get the direct comparison - without the marketing language.

1. User interface & navigation

Odoo 18

Odoo 18 was the release that delivered the long-overdue UX refresh. The new design system unified colors, spacing, and components across every module. Navigation was simplified and menus were consolidated.

What worked well: a more consistent look, faster load times through code splitting, improved responsive display on tablets.

Odoo 19

Odoo 19 built specifically on 18's weak points. The most important addition: the command palette (⌘K / Ctrl+K). It lets experienced users open any record, action, or report in seconds - without navigating menus.

Also new: adaptive home dashboards and officially supported dark mode.

2. CRM & sales

For the first time, Odoo 19's CRM integrates AI-driven win probabilities - the model analyzes activity and historical data to compute a forecast for every opportunity.

3. Manufacturing

This is the area where Odoo 19 makes the biggest difference:

4. Accounting & finance

Odoo 19 solves one of the most pressing compliance issues in the German market: XRechnung and ZUGFeRD are now natively supported - no third-party modules needed. For German businesses, that alone is a strong argument for upgrading.

Our conclusion

Odoo 18 laid the foundation; Odoo 19 delivers real value in manufacturing, compliance, and AI. For most of our customers in Germany, we recommend making the move to Odoo 19.
